“Why should my kids see a chiropractor?”
Children are as susceptible to trauma in their spines from various activities and events. These microtraumas can subluxate the vertebrae of the spine, placing pressure on their spinal nerves and therefore decreasing their body’s ability to function normally. Although symptoms, such as pain and malfunction may not show up for years, injury to their vital nervous system can have a lifetime of damaging effects.
Children should be checked right after birth for any misalignment of the central nervous system. Even the most natural births can be traumatic to the infantile systems, many of which are still developing for months after birth. Studies show that many children who experience symptoms of colic, ear infections¹ and asthma² have spinal subluxations impairing their nervous system function. Early detection and correction can prevent layers of damage from occurring in the child’s vital nervous system. Accumulated damage will have lifelong consequences.
“What happens to kids who never get adjusted?”
Some kids have a lifetime of recurrent illnesses. But most of them…they are just average kids. Am I saying that most kids don’t need chiropractic care? No, not at all! There is nothing wrong with a child being average…if that is her potential! But, what if that’s NOT her potential?
What if she was meant to be something much more than average? Even if she is meant to be what we call average, she will not even reach that level if her brain and body can’t communicate effectively with each other.
The best chance for your children to reach their potential in life is to have nerve systems that are free from interference so that they can adapt to all of the physical, chemical and mental stresses they encounter each day. That way, their energy can be used to access higher levels of creative thought instead of just trying to get through the day. In other words, they have the best possible chance of reaching their full potential in life!
“What is an adjustment like for my kids?”
Chiropractors specializing in children use very specific, gentle techniques to care for children. On the very young, the adjustment is as light as a finger touch. Doctors of Chiropractic who are Diplomates in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics have completed extensive postgraduate training and attained expert status in providing excellent care for pregnant mothers, infants, and children in addition to skills in family care (yes, dads and grandparents, too).
